Blowin' kisses to nobody

Here’s a website where Palestine GoFundMes are vetted and shared that you can send out to people. The url is gazafunds.com

Easy to use and simple. Just share the site whenever someone asks for GFMs for Palestine.

Crazy when people call a book “boring” and what they actually mean is there’s not enough like, suspense or action or whatever? Like the written word can make all sorts of things interesting if you’re willing to engage with it

getting so crazy about people being wrong about the oankali that I’m here compiling textual evidence, taking notes

eddardism:

yes ned stark didn’t have a sneaky political bone in his body but i’ll die on the hill that he wasn’t dumb for confronting cersei about the incest he had the upper hand he was hand of the king his honor carried weight and most importantly ROBERT would’ve 100% believed him over cersei the only reason it collapsed wasn’t some ‘ned didn’t play the game of thrones’ thing it was because robert inconveniently died at the worst possible moment blame the boar not ned lol it was actually his empathy for the children that led him to make this decision

this isn’t new but ppl keep trying to hammer scifi/fantasy stories into these neat 1:1 metaphors with simple, unchallenging messages and i think those have their place but you gotta let stories be kinda messy and in conflict with themselves too

like right from the beginning it’s going “the oankali literally thought humanity might have been purposely committing mass suicide and argued among themselves over whether they should risk intervention” and then they don’t know how to handle humans safely from the get-go and manage to get some people killed and they phrase it as a “talent for cancer” they’re pretty alien aliens in a lot of ways, it feels like Butler was putting a lot of work into saying “no you can’t just graft human values onto them but they are sympathetic if not always in the right” but like ultimately it was either their intervention or human extinction and NOTHING in the books gives you any indication that the oankali are being dishonest about their methods/aims and if you read what Butler said about Bloodchild about “paying the rent” and and and….

liking LiIith’s Brood is so annoying because a lot of people who read it ignore a lot of what the books are blatantly saying about oankaIi in favor of what they’re most comfortable with them saying

really recommend getting fed up with being on the computer

organizing and reorganizing my house plants as if there’s some trick to getting enough light for nearly 50 plants, still having desk space, and not needing an additional grow light

going “I need book recs” while I have 35 books on my “to read” tag on libby and another 10 on my “maybe” tag…

popular post with the phrase “moral ocd where their critical thinking should be” versus popular tumblr user claiming ppl developed pocd because they were critical of like, Ioli and ddIg or whatever
